At 4 on a moody Tokyo morning I was about to start a training session and briefly opened substack to find your post. Such a gift. Your words and the admiration addressed to artists long past whose heavenly talents humble humanity left me awestruck. It is both genius and an act of kindness that you shared these wonders of the art world. Your commitment and desire to share the inexplicable depth and beauty of human art elevates humanity forever beyond the banal efforts of artificial intelligence. The beauty you share with readers breathes hope itself into the purpose of humanity. A humble thank you. The day is brighter.
As always the attention to detail is astounding and what is revealed is magical. Thank you, Mr. Lucas, for bringing magic back into our lives. I'm forever left breathless by your revelations!
I read this yesterday and immediately shared it with my mother. She also was so happy to have read it. I read it again today and for some reason tears slowly filled my eyes and gently gathered as one fell I tried to hold the stream as I continued reading however more fell as the truth you’ve gathered and pieced together overwhelmed the knowledge that I thought couldn’t get deeper. There’s something magical about finding out new information something innocent and exciting at the same time. I haven’t felt that in forever. Thank you Mr. Lucas
What unusual beauty You find to share with us. It is like breathing fresh air and becoming fueled with pure energy. Thanks James for a joyful glimpse of hope in remembering an unwasted past
It's incredibly interesting to learn about these particular details of paintings from centuries ago, which could only have been captured and understood through careful and accurate analysis of the painting. Thank you for bringing them to our attention.
I loved this. I’ve been to many museums but have never REALLY looked at art the way you described here. I have a new appreciation and now want to go back to see not only the art but also understand the artist.
Wow! Once again you have managed to enlighten me with the beauty of something surreal as is this art. I was a student of art history many years ago and yet do not remember any of these particular works. The information you have provided is so interesting and thought provoking as any art should be. Thank you for the lesson, James.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve read in a long time 💫
Descriptions, works of art, details, equisit knowledge, and genius are marvelous and engaging.. thank you
