No one obscure in this group. A group with life experience in common before becoming well known. Perhaps it is the fact that they had lived life that allowed them to come to a new phase of possibilities. Grateful they did! Thanks James!

An amazing post, very inspiring--thank you for taking the time to compose the stories of these people, and for putting your heart and soul into it.

I fancy myself an author, and have written some novels and short stories which have amounted to very little monetarily, and managed to pressure myself so much that I became burned out and abandoned writing for a few years now. Instead, I took on a new full-time role as a history professor at age 57. I love it! I am researching and creating lectures and writing papers on esoteric subjects. The part of my soul that writes fiction is lying fallow, hibernating in the cool dark cave of my soul. I'm closing in on 60 at the end of this year and hope to teach for a few more years to come at least, but afterwards I believe that I will come back to fiction and it will be a thing of joy as it was when I first started writing as a youth.

I wrote three novels based on historical fact, lost treasures, and Native American legend and paranormal lore. Blending that fact vs. fiction was so much fun, especially when readers don't know the real truth. I added a section at the end of my books explaining how I based fictional characters off or real people and real events. I saw other authors doing that – namely James Rollins and loved that summary after a story. Very cool path you started teaching history at 57. I've been thinking of writing my next book as non-fiction in military history. So many lost stories are still out there despite what we know in past wars. I love reading stories like this. I'm 57 years old, and have lived/am living a pretty good life. But it's nice to believe that it's absolutely possible that there could be (much) "more".
