Your words capture something profoundly true. In the face of death and tragedy, like the events of September 11, we are reminded with painful clarity of what really matters. Not the titles, the possessions, or the endless striving but the love we gave and the love we received. That day showed us both the cruelty of life and the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Families, friends, and even strangers held each other close, proving that love is the only force strong enough to outlast the darkness.
As the years pass, we continue to carry forward the legacy of those we lost by choosing to live with more compassion, more presence, and more love. Because in the end, as you said so beautifully, love is all that truly remains.
Thank you James. Your words are timely given what happened to Charlie Kirk yesterday, and the irony that he had just talked the day before or so about the subway attack and death of Ukrainian refugee of 23 year old Iryna Zarutska in North Carolina. They were both coincidentally killed by lethal weapons into their necks. As Konstantin Kisin has said, this is a line that has been crossed. Two very different people killed two very different people. The USA and other western countries desperately need to practice more love and tolerance.
I read your article after reading news on corruption and crime and totalitarian repression and environmental destruction... I regret starting my day with those news, but thank you for helping me regain my center through your words.
It still feels like yesterday…. I will never forget the heartbreaking images, the recordings of the loving messages from good souls who were out of time. Despite the horror, I will always remember that in response, Americans forgot their differences and stood together in unity to help each other, volunteered in droves at blood banks and multitudes joined the military to defend our country and what it still stands for. May we all remember this example as we respond to our country’s current situation, how lucky we are to live in America, and refuse to be divided by any force who stands to gain from creating this division. May we remember to be good neighbors, in our country and in the world, and that our country is at its very best when its decisions are made based on the values of human worth. Love is the ultimate strength.
I love what you said, “I believe that above all else, love is the greatest teaching these souls leave us. A gift, a legacy, and perhaps the only thing worth carrying forward.” I agree!!!☝️
A beautiful reminder of what really matters in life,

It was a day just like today. 💔
Yes love heals, unites and builds up instead of tearing down
Thank you James for articulating the most profound and important truth. Love is the highest law. 🦋
Thank you for your beautiful words and images.
Thank you for this moving post. In the face of death, giving love was their priority.
A great reminder that, as often as you can, make sure your people know they are loved, and are absolutely clear on this fact.
Never forget…
There is no greater gift in life than love , to give it and receive it is a blessing ❤️
Thank you. So beautiful. How soon we forget what really matters in this life.
