Home Town: Resides: Height: 6'4" College: The 2001 season was Ayakatubby’s (ACK-A-TUB-E) first full season on the beach since 1997 as he played only two events in a three-season span due to injuries. He had three “final four” finishes in 2001 with $16,625 in earnings. Before winning the 2001 Huntington Beach title with Eduardo Bacil, Ayakatubby’s last AVP win was June 30, 1996 with Brian Lewis at Graven Haven, Mich. A native of Hermosa Beach, Ayakatubby started playing beach volleyball at age six. He emulates his uncle, Matt Gage, current AVP Tour Director and fellow and beach volleyball legend, Jim Menges. Awarded the 1991 Prime Ticket "Best Dressed" honors, Ayakatubby was a co-founder of Primitive Prints clothing, located in El Segundo, Calif. He earned Most Valuable Player honors at Mira Costa High School. He has an uncle, Rob Gage, who is a top equestrian rider. |
