| Ruth Buzzi • Movies/TV • Music | ||||||||
Accomplishments:She just finished a big children's movie as the voice of a lead character; it's called Squeeshie's, and she sings as well as talks. It will be released this fall.
She was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame on April 11, 2002. Her hit series (5 1/2 years in first place on NBC) Laugh-In is being seen 3 times a day, five days a week, in all 50 states, Canada and overseas. Ruth Buzzi has a Golden Globe Award as the Best Female Performer in a Comedy Series, Five Emmy Award nominations, a Cleo Award for best commercial spokesperson, and the NAACP Image Award for her treatment of people of color in the industry. The Dean Martin Roasts on VCR have sold millions of copies nationwide, and have now out grossed the original television series in actual sales. This year, her image will be immortalized in, of all things, a new Las Vegas slot machine based on the Laugh-In characters. She will actually get a part of the proceeds every time someone slams a quarter into the one-armed bandit! Ruthie enjoys her current lifestyle very much, probably more than when she was working every day on television. She spends most of her time, at this point, sewing, painting, and going to car shows with her husband, an avid Rolls Royce and Bentley collector. Ruthie keeps houses in California and Southlake, Texas, goes to Alaska fishing every summer, and hikes daily.
Films:
Television: She’s also done specials with Anne Murray in Jamaica, with Rolf Harris in Australia, with Jim Nabors in Hawaii and with Wayne Newton in Pismo Beach, California. |
